Reporters Without Borders (RSF) is offering journalists who have faced obstacles in their work an opportunity to rest and pursue a research project in safe conditions in Berlin for six months through our Reporting Fellowships.
Reporters Without Borders (RSF) is offering two reporting fellowships available to journalists who have faced obstacles to their work in their home countries. The fellowships offer a six-month stay in Berlin to complete a self-selected journalistic project in safe conditions. The RSF Research and Recharge Fellowship is aimed at all media professionals who have a project they wish to complete, and the RSF Digital & Safety Fellowship, funded by Jan-Eric Peters, is aimed at journalists who have faced in particular digital threats and surveillance.
The fellowships cover travel costs, accommodation, insurance, a monthly allowance, and training sessions in languages and digital safety, as well as therapy sessions. It provides the opportunity to work without restrictions and external threats, network with other media professionals, and participate in cultural activities in Berlin. The programmes run from May 2023 to October 2023, (subject to change based on Covid-19-associated travel restrictions).
